Honolulu, HI, United States (AHN) - Hawaii is the happiest place to live in the U.S., according to a survey measuring the well-being in 50 states in 2009.

The survey called the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index helps to determine the well-being in each state based on the evaluation of present life, emotional health, work environment, physical health, healthy behavior, and basic access to healthcare.

Hawaii scored 70.2 out of 100 in the survey while Utah scored 68.3. The other states in the top 10 and their corresponding scores are: Montana, 68.3; Minnesota, 67.8; Iowa, 67.6; Vermont, 67.4; Colorado, Alaska and North Dakota, 67.3; and Kansas, 67.2.
