I just wanted to pass along the sad news that Wah Chiu Chang passed away the other evening. He greatly enjoyed the years of companionship and competition with the Kapiolani senior tennis group, and he missed it when knee arthritis forced him to give it up. Memorial services have not been scheduled yet.

Chang got a picture from Ben
Chang (89) stopped by the farmers market lastWednesday (papaya day) as usual. We took snap shots of him, which were on the blog before. He dosen't have a PC, so Ben printed out the blog and gave it to him. He is very happy to see that.

Papaya day, Today パパイヤ デー
There is a farmers market at the North parking lot in KP (at the corner of Paki Ave and Monsarrat. Av) every Wednesday from 10:00 AM. Papaya is very popular in this market. So we call Wednesday "Papaya day". Many tennis players visit it. Doi, Bill, long hair Ben, pauline, Korean Ben, Maj, and Japanese players are waiting for it. Chang also goes to this farmers market every Wednesday to buy papaya. He is very good at finding good papayas and he eats it every day, every meal. That's why he is very healthy until 89.
Today Ben is competing with Chang. He said to Chang, "No, No, It's mine."
