More Kailua Night Doubles Action

The night doubles event featuring the semi-finals on Friday night was so crowded that people were getting creative with finding available vantage points. The woman sitting in the trees "takes the cake" however. Her position serves a dual purpose: 1) It looks comfortable and is easier on the knees and 2) you can continue consuming alcoholic beverages with worrying about falling over. But on a serious note, the view from behind the baseline was great. You can appreciate the speed of the players, the severe angles of the shots and the power of each stroke; you can really hear the POP!! everytime they hit a return. The beer was cold, the food delicious, much of the crowd familiar and the action excellent. Enjoy the photos...

  2. Kailua Raquet Club on the east side of the island. It occurs the same time once a year. We need more events like this. Your coach Robert did very well in previous tournaments. There is a "qualifying" draw which last for one week and that is followed by the "main" draw for the seeded players to play against the people who survived the qualifying rounds. There were several people who play or have played on the ATP tour in this tournament.
