I usally play tennis at this court. I did play here between 7:00pm to 9:00pm last night. As it is not humid in April, it’s wonderful to play tennis. After playing tennis, I had a sauna bath and a cold bath. I felt relaxed. Anyway, rainbow top spin was hard on me. I was too tense.

When the sun comes up over Diamond head and the sunshine reaches Kapiolani park everything looks beautiful in the morning sunshine. It’s wonderful to see light clear blue sky, green trees, shiny grass and to play tennis. To enjoy this great park is one of my many pleasure.

I got back to Japan

It's the best season now in Japan. Finally, we have nice sunshine and the temperature is just right .

Swine flu has become a serious problem in the world. So how's it effecting Hawaii?

Anyway, I really enjoyed playing tennis @ Kapiolani this time. Steve, Hiro, Alan, Ben, Jerry,Meggie, Curt and other people said "your play has improved". I'm so happy to hear that. Thanks a lot. I wanted to take pics on my last day with you guys but I forgot, uh-oh.........I'll be there around the 4th of July maybe.
See you then:)

Court report: Kapiolani Park needs new rules

HONOLULU (AP) — A court-ordered report says new rules are needed for use of popular Kapiolani Park.

The report says the park is a special case and needs its own rules and regulation to control art sales, craft fairs and other events that have raised concerns about commercialization of the public park.

Officials are concerned about legal challenges to events in the park.

The Probate Court report was prepared by attorney Bruce Graham following a request by the City Council.

Graham determined that existing events do not violate the park's public nature because they are considered cultural exhibits even though they may make sales.

Michelle Matson, president of the Kapiolani Park Advisory Council, disagrees. She says exhibiters should not be allowed to make sales in the park.

All 4 Japanese dream team play double.

They all displayed fantastic skills.

Tennis in Kapiolani Park

WE Enjoy seeing the blog about Tennis in Kapiolani Park; Thank you very much.
The milk vetch is full in the rice field near my house in Fukui, Japan.
The contrast of the neighboring mountains is so beautiful.
It is planted not only to keep a beautiful scene, but also to keep rice safe and delicious.
It is also used to absorb the nitrogen. It will become very nice organic fertilizer.
Also we can use less of the pesticide, so safe and delicious rice will grow.

Kapiolani Park Hours Push Out Homeless

The city began night closures at Kapiolani Park this week, forcing homeless campers to move elsewhere.KITV's Jodi Leong said she found South King Street dotted with homeless campers."From Alapai and south King Street to where the bus yard is, all the way down here to Stadium Park -- including the Pawa'a Neighborhood Park," said Leong.Leong said the park and the sidewalk along South King Street are full of homeless people and their carts."I was at Kapiolani Park until it got kind of rough staying there," said homeless camper Tony Carvelli. "They were pushing to get the homeless out months ago."Carvelli is one of dozens of homeless campers who once lived at Kapiolani Park. But complaints and concerns over safety and tourism are one reason the city said it is now closing the park daily between midnight and 5 a.m."I don't think any homeless person on this island wants to chase any tourism people away. It's a matter of where do you go?" said Carvelli.Carvelli said he is now living along South King Street in a tent on the sidewalk -- just outside of Pawa'a Neighborhood Park.He said police mostly leave them alone. But the Pawa'a park closes at 10 p.m. each night, forcing scores of other homeless campers to move their tents and belongings to the sidewalks every day."When you have nowhere to go and when you ask that question and you're told to pack up your things, but the question's never answered, where do we go? So, we go from one block to the next, to the next, to the next," said Carvelli.Carvelli said he became homeless because of a drug habit 11 years ago. But he said he is now clean and sober and trying to figure out how to get back on his feet in this struggling economy."Every day, there's one more person going into poverty, coming to the streets," said Carvelli. "I see it growing a lot."Homeless campers told KITV that they will continue to multiply as long as there is not enough low-income housing, homeless shelters and other government assistance to help people like Carvelli get a job and get back on their feet."I don't know where to go," said Carvelli.

Kapiolani Homeless Waiting for Eviction

As part of a major plan to clean up Waikiki and deter homeless campers the city announced they would close Kapiolani Park at midnight Monday.

But homeless campers say nothing’s been done and they plan to wait it out.

KP is hot

By Zahid Arab - bio | email

HONOLULU (KHNL) - The City and County of Honolulu makes it moving day for homeless in Kapiolani Park and Kuhio Beach. Monday, the areas officially became off-limits to overnight camping.

Where will they go? The answer is anywhere. An over-pass, under a bench, even on the street. Homeless say they aren't told where to go but they can't stay here.

Kapiolani Park overnight camping ban in effect

By Leland Kim - bio | email

WAIKIKI (KHNL) Kapiolani Park and Kuhio Beach go through a major change starting tonight.

They'll be closed nightly, as part of a new campaign by the city, to clean up the area and to keep the homeless from living there.

Prior to last month's big clean up effort, hundreds of homeless people camped here.
