トイレ

カピオラニ公園バスストップ近くトイレの建物です。公園内こんな風な建物が数か所あります。ビーチに近い建物には、着替えができるスペースが取られ直ぐそばのシャワー設備でシャワーを済ませて利用することができます。公園管理の方々が毎朝清掃され環境が維持されています。

シェルスタジアム

テニスコートからカピオラニ公園北西方向に進んでゆくとドーム型のシェルスタジアムが見えてきます。10年以上前までこのシェルスタジアムで火曜日から金曜日までコダック・フラショーが10時から行われていました。無料で行われハワイの歴史など含め内容の良いショーを見せてくれていました。現在は、時々イベントに使われているだけですね。

広い芝生グランド

カピオラニ・テニスコート北側に出ると広い芝生グランドが広がっています。きれいに芝刈りが行われ緑色がグルリと視界全体に見えます。このグランドを使ってランニング,フットボール等々沢山の人達が楽しんでいます。昼下がりマットを敷いて日光浴を楽しむ人たちもいます。

芝生に散水

カピオラニ公園全体の芝生広場定期的に散水が行われています。公園全体区分を区切って週に2回芝生グランドに埋められたスプリンクラーから水が飛び出しています。散水が行われるのは、早朝6時過ぎから8時頃までです。スプリンクラーがゆっくり回転しているので散水ダンスのように見えます。

コート整備

早朝の雨でコートに雨水が溜まっています。コートにやってきたプレーヤー達コート整備のためロッカーからスポンジローラーを持ってきてコート上から雨水をコート外に掃き出して行きます。作業は、コート中央から円を描くようにグルグルと回って広がって行います。この方法が一番効率が良い方法です。

John & Kate came back again this year from New Zealand and will be staying here one week but will return again coming July.

NOT IN SERVICE

カピオラニ公園バスストップ終点なので次の出発時間まで時間調整するバスが「NOT IN SERVICE」と表示してバスの待機場所に停まりました。ほとんどのバスカピオラニ公園が終点始発になります。ワイキキ方面に行くには、公園のバスストップで5分か10分待っているとバスがやってきます。

カピオラニ公園バス停近くバンドスタンド前の池に大きなトンボのモニュメントが配置されています。池に尻尾を付けチョンチョンと飛び跳ねるような姿勢をしています。池に映った姿が空から飛んできたように見えます。ここにトンボを配置しようとしたのは、素晴らしいデザインですね。

カピオラニ公園バンドスタンド近くに存在感のある大きな樹木がスクッと立っています。木の幹を見ると左巻きになっています。ハワイ諸島に吹く貿易風が西側からやって来るので長い年月その風を受けた木々が左巻きになっています。自然の力のすごい所が公園の木々を見ると感じられます。

熱戦が展開

No2コートとNo4コートの東側からNo3,No4テニスコート全体を眺めました。No4コートでは、ラリーが何度も続く好プレーが展開されています。ベンチで次の出番を待つプレーヤーから好プレーに拍手や「ナイスショット」の声が飛び熱戦を盛り上げています。天候もよく絶好のテニス日和も熱戦を後押ししています。

カピオラニ・テニス・コート

ワイキキから動物園横を通り過ぎカピオラニ公園ウォーキングロードを東に進んでくるとこのカピオラニ・テニス・コートにやってきます。照明設備が完備し公園オープンの朝5時から7時15分までライトが点灯しているので早朝でもプレーできます。テニスコート周辺も公園管理の人達により芝生や植木がきれいに手入れされています。素敵な環境で毎日気持ちよいプレーが展開されています。
