こちらは、ＨＩＲＯさんが、いらっしゃるテニスサークルでしょうか？
はじめまして。
私は、日本の奈良県に住む、山本雅洋（ＭＡＳＡＨＩＲＯ ＹＡＭＡＭＯＴＯ）といいます。
同じ奈良県に住む、山口孝則（ＴＡＫＡＮＯＲＩ ＹＡＭＡＧＵＣＨＩ）さんに
ご紹介いただきました。
山口さんご夫婦が、以前にハワイへ行かれた時に、テニスをご一緒された、ということから
紹介いただきました。
私も、来年の２月末に、夫婦で、そちらに旅行を考えておりまして、
できることなら、少しお邪魔させていただけたら嬉しく思い、

BOSTON (MarketWatch) — It must be someone’s idea of a joke. If so, it’s a cruel one. Consider: We ask older Americans to make complicated financial decisions about Social Security, Medicare, retirement distributions and more — just when they are losing their fast ball.
Regardless of gender or education level, Americans become considerably less literate about all things money after age 60, according to a new study.
The scores on a test measuring knowledge of investments, insurance, credit and money basics fell about 2% each year starting after age 60, falling from about 59% correct — hardly a passing grade — for those in their 60s to a dismal 30% for those 80 and older, according to Michael Finke, an associate professor at Texas Tech University and a co-author of the study.
Here’s what’s even worse: Our confidence in our financial decision-making abilities rises with age. We are not older and wiser. Rather, we are older, less smart and overconfident.
This notion of confidence rising while financial literacy is falling spells trouble for that group of Americans that now represents more than 12% of the population and controls half of all the financial wealth in America, according to Finke, who is also head of Texas Tech University’s Ph.D. in financial-planning program. カピオラニ公園テント村
イベントがある時カピオラニ公園に大量のテントが張られ一大テント村が出来上がります。手作りの飾り物,絵画,衣服,アクセサリー,各家庭で不要になったもの 等々雑多なものが各テントに広げられ売られています。バンドスタンド周りでは、食べ物屋台が沢山集まっています。ホットドッグ,アイスクリーム,シェーブアイス,ピザ,マラサダ,ドーナツ,フリフリチキン等々朝8時頃から夕方17時過ぎまで賑やかに行われています。

訓練
9月中旬以降陸軍新兵達の訓練がカピオラニ公園で頻繁に行われています。オレンジ色の帯を巻いているのが新兵で背中に20Kgのリックを背負いダイヤモンド・ヘッド・ロードを上りトライアングル・パーク折り返しで3往復トータル30Kmの歩行訓練がこの日行われていました。11月のApecを意識しこの9月中旬からの新兵トレーニングは、いつもより厳しいと言っていました。

Cars that were contaminated by radiation during the March nuclear meltdown in Japan are finding their way into the reeling nation's used car market.
Vehicles from the area around the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, which suffered a series of meltdowns after the earthquake and tsunami of March 11, were supposed to be destroyed. But unscrupulous dealers have registered them under new license plates and sold them, The Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported. Unable to export the cars, they're selling them in Japan.
Dealers have traditionally bought used vehicles in Japan and exported them to Russia and Southeast Asia, according to the Telegraph. In June, Russian police turned back a half-dozen used cars from Japan after finding they were contaminated with radioactove isotopes, according to the Interfax news agency. Authorities in South America, Australia and the U.S. have also stepped up inspection of new and used cars coming in from Japan.
Now, with testing also being conducted at Japanese loading docks, dealers are selling the potentially lethal cars on the domestic market.
Nearly 700 cars have been barred from export for exceeding the legal radiation limit of 0.3 microsieverts per hour. One van that was re-registered and sold within Japan was found to emit 110 microsieverts of radiation an hour.

先日ねんりんピック2011全国大会が熊本で開催されました。
都道府県の60歳以上の皆さんが、各都道府県で(全てのスポーツ)
全国シニアーの皆さんの入場行進と我が県(福井県)の入場行進です。
多種目の競技が開催されました。
各都道府県で、予選をし選抜された選手が、熊本県に集いました。
私もテニスの部で、全国の皆さんと楽しくプレーさせていただきました。

素晴らしい大会でしたので、メールさせていただきました。
来年お会いできる日を楽しみにしてます。

Ron and Sachiko
ペアが決まりウォーミングアップ開始 Sachiko 軽くボールを打ち打球感を確かめようとウォーミングアップを始めました。Ron は、少し打ってウォーミングアップで体力が消耗しないように努めています。ゲーム前のウォーミングアップそれぞれプレーヤーのイメージで準備することが必要です。Ben with Akemi's family after set court #4 this morning.

Drama free
皆様ご存知のように「XXX-free」は、XXXがないという意味。張り紙には、"drama-free situation"と書かれていた。つまりドラマがない状態を求めているということで、ドラマフリーという表現になるらしい。へぇ、おもしろい。
確かにアメリカの昼の連続ドラマなどは、とても大げさな、普段はあり得ないストーリー展開で、これでもかというほどのドラマに満ちている。恐らくそういうところから来た言葉なのだろう。確かに、自分がドラマのヒロインのように悲劇に満ちていると思い込んでいる人や、ドラマの登場人物のように次々に問題を起こす人がルームメイトになってしまったら、困ってしまうだろう。
