BIKE Route

カピオラニ公園周回道路に Bike 専用道路が指定されています。Bike を利用する時この BIKE Route を利用しないと罰金が取られます。ワイキキの主だった道路にこの BIKE Route が設けられており自動車,Bike,歩行者がルールを守っています。珠に旅行者が歩道で Bike を利用し警官に注意され50$の罰金を徴収されていますよ。

トレーニング

クヒオビーチの砂浜でハワイ大学ビーチバレー・クラブ・メンバーがトレーニングをしています。このビーチでは、色々な沢山のクラブが利用しトレーニング,ゲーム等早朝から毎日賑わっています。このハワイ大学のメンバー7時頃から集まり砂浜ダッシュ,ジグザグ走,リレー走等々適度な休憩を挟みながらいい汗を流しています。

Fran & Benny returned to their Waikiki home from New York for stay here 4 months.

ネット修理

No3コートのネット・センターベルトが金属部分から切れてしまいセンター・ベルト固定できなくなりました。早速 Keith が早朝6時30分頃から交換用ベルトを持参し取り換えを行ってくれました。ベルトをコートに固定するフックが盗難されないようテープで固定しネット高さを調整後ベルトがずれないよう調整金具部もテープ固定しました。ベルトの交換だけでも色々調整し高さが変わらないよう Keith がセットしてくれています。

決まるか?

リターン・ボールが絶妙のドロップショットになりネット際に飛んで行ってます。そのボールを目がけ Steve 猛ダッシュ ボールがリターンされた後の対応 Yuko 中間位置にポジションを移動しています。 Steve の動きを視線で追いかけながら柔軟にポジション移動ができるよう Hiromi が待っています。一つのボールに対しそれぞれポジションを考えそれがラリーに繋がりいいゲームになります。

素敵なお月さん

今年最後の満月がきれいに見えていました。明け方6時30分過ぎカピオラニ公園を歩いてくると明るい月明かりが公園中を照らしてくれています。ワイキキビーチの真上に輝く月を見て早朝の公園から溢れる自然を体で感じてコートに向かうといい気持ちになります。

樹木から水が!!

バンド・スタンドとテニスコート間の芝生広場にいい塩梅に配置されている樹木から何かが飛んでいるように見えるので少し近づいて見ました。樹木から芝生に向かって散水されているようです。自然に樹木から水が飛び出すのは変だと思いよく見ると樹木の根元に埋め込まれたスプリンクラーから水が飛び出していました。チョッピリ離れて見るとアメリカ杉が散水しているのかと錯覚してしまいますね。

Kioshi & Kazue returned to the Aloha state from Gunma and plan to stay here for 2 months.

Last year, Yoshiko (left) finished the Honolulu Marathon at around 3 hours; Tokio & Toko completed the course at around 8 hours.

Tennis player and also Honolulu marathon runner Tokio & Toko came back again to participate in their 11th challenge this year.

フィールド・ホッケー

テニスコート北側に広がる芝生広場でフィールド・ホッケーの大会が開催されています。近寄って聞いてみるとニュージーランド,オーストラリア,サモア等太平洋近隣国の選手が集まった大会だと判りました。日本でホッケーをこんなに身近で見ることがないスポーツですがカピオラニ公園では、自然にプレーされているスポーツなんですね。

Shibata & Tomoko are returning to their Tokyo home this afternoon.

But they will come back to the Kapiolani tennis courts next year in Nov

and want to stay for one month.

Wayne came back to his Ilikai condo from Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. He will stay here until April 10.

Craig is visiting from Indianapolis Indiana, he want to stay here until Dec 14.

Bob & Barbara also returned to their Waikiki condo from Madison Wisconsin. They will stay here until May, Aloha!

Sachiko returned to her Waikiki Banyan home from Yokosuka Japan.

Tai & Machiko came back to their Waikiki Banyan home from Fairfield CA.

ロブ

Doi が相手から打たれた深いショットを少し下がりながらロブで返しました。Doi 打った方向に視線を這わせそのボールに対応する相手の動きを観察しながら Nori どこにでも動けるよう中間位置でユッタリ待っています。ペアの打球から相手の動きを見て行くことでどんなボールが打たれたか判断できますね。

Al Returns!

Today, December 3, Al arrives back in Hawaii after traveling all over the world. As a gift, he brought the rain that we're now experiencing.  Booo!  Just kidding, Al.  Welcome back.  :)

ロッカーの確認

No1コート直ぐ脇にある2つのロッカー Keith がドアを開けて確認している方に雨処理用のスポンジローラーが5本入っています。シャワーがあるとここからスポンジローラーを各自取り出しコートを整備します。スポンジ部分3年位で不均一になるので状態が悪くなる前にプレーヤーから寄付を集めローラーを購入し Keith が交換作業を行ってくれます。時々このようにキチンと保管されているか確認しています。左側には、掃除用の道具が入っています。

Al Visits Israel

 No. Al did not go there to play tennis! But, he completed a major item on his bucket list. Al reports that it was one his best trips ever. In the right photo, he and his wife, Lou, are in the Old City of Jerusalem. Below, they posed with two female Israeli soldiers. I can't believe Al asked one of the soldiers if he could hold their weapon. Ha-ha.  No luck there.  :)

Hot Dog and Shave Ice

カピオラニ公園バンドスタンド前芝生広場にテント・ショップが開店準備をしています。色々なお店の中クイーン・カピオラニ像直ぐそば絶好の場所にいつもお店を開く Royal Hawaiian Hot Dog and Shave Ice が開店準備しています。 Hot Dog のローラー・ヒーターを配置し Shave Ice 用アイスボックスを器械のそばにずらり並べ準備が進んでいます。お昼頃になるとこのお店の前ズラリと行列ができます。

Hi Kei, Motomi, Mason, and Nagisa!

On the left, is Kei, the respected president of the local Japanese-language paper. Motomi and her daughter, Nagisa, are on their second Hawaii trip this year. Nagisa can really pound that tennis ball as well as anyone...guys included. And, Mason was fortunate enough to play with her twice. Maybe, that's why he's got a big smile on his face.  :)
