風が強いですね!!

No2コートからワイキキ方向を眺めると海側の椰子の木が風邪に押され海側にナビイテいます。ワイキキの風は、ほとんどの場合西風が吹いています。これは、太平洋の貿易風が西から東に吹いていることからハワイも西風になります。貿易風は、若干蛇行しているのでマノアからワイキキ方向に風が流れてきます。そのためどの木々の幹も左巻きになっています。

In Japan Ichiro (一郞, meaning first boy) Jiro(二郞, second boy) Saburo(三郞, third boy) are very common first name.
Yesterday at the KPTC Ichiro couple met by chance Saburo couple second time.
Ichiro & Saburo are wearing same Nike, same color, same design tennis shorts.
Is it a coincidence or not?
* Jiro(Chako's husband) not yet come back to their condominium near Waikiki Banyan from Osaka Japan.
Maybe someday 一郞, 二郞, 三郞 can meet all together at the KPTC.

In 2008, she has come to KPTC first time. Today is the day of 2-years anniversary. She enjoys tennis almost every day here for 2 years.

クリーンなコート

日差しがいい感じでコートに当りコートもきれいに掃除され気持ちよいプレーが出来る準備が出来ています。毎日気持ちよいプレーが出来るようにコートがクリーンに保たれているのがいいですね。プレーヤー皆が気持ちよくプレーしようと思っているのでこういう風にクリーンなコートが保たれているんですね。

Old friends Phillip & Peter.

Phillip Escandon met Peter & Gloria Hoffman at the KPTC in 2005. They also meet of Indian Wells(next to Palm Springs)tennis tournament. Therefore they got to be old friends.

多分皆さんは最低1回はハワイのカピオラニ　テニスコートを利用したことのある人だと思います。ご存知かどうか、分かりませんが、裕さんは自主的にテニスコートの整備を朝早くから人目に触れないところで、無償で日々行っております。皆さんが気持ちよくハワイでテニスができるのは彼のような人がいるからです。もし、よろしければ日本語で結構ですので、感謝の気持ちをコメント欄にお願いいたします。なにとぞ宜しくお願い致します。

盛況のNo2コート

No2コート ベンチにも沢山のプレーヤーが待っています。ウォーミングアップが始まってほぼ体が温まりゲームが出来る状態になってきたのでそろそろゲームを始めようかと言う段階です。準備をしてゲームを向かえ熱いショットがこれから飛び交います。

From Mike in CA about Mo

As you know my father Maurice (Mo) was in the hospital in Hawaii for cancer, since moving to California in July he was seen at the VA in Palo Alto for his illness. It seems that the disease progressed unnoticed by the doctors until just 1 month ago. He was admitted to the VA two weeks ago, during that time he went down hillincredibly fast not eating due to abdominal pains. I'm sad to have to pass along that my father died this morning at 5:30. He loved and missed all his friends in Hawaii. We love him and will miss him greatly.

Aloha Mike,
We are deeply saddened to hear of your dad's passing. Our condolences to your families. He will always be remembered as good friend.
Stan and Shirley are thinking of having a memorial luncheon in his honor at the Kapiolani Park tennis courts on a Sunday within the next 2 weeks. More toward November 21st.
If you could please provide a biography or his obituary, I could read this at the picnic to his friends and tennis players.

さ～あゲームを始めようか!!

メンバーが揃ったので Ken がゲームを始めようと声をかけています。Charles,Ken,Ted と早起きプレーヤーで6時過ぎには、コートに来ています。太陽が出る前からプレーしようと元気に足を運んできます。こうやって早起きプレーヤー達が沢山いるのがカピオラニコートのいいところですね。
