テニスが終わり久し振りにビーチ沿いをゆったり帰ろうと道路を横切り芝生広場を突き進み Queen's Surf Beech のウォーキングロードに出てきました。ここから眺めるワイキキ方面本当にいい景色です。青い海が広がりワイキキのホテル群がズラリと視界に入ります。海の中に突き出した突堤に進み直ぐそこに泳ぐ魚やカニをしばらく見ていました。

応急処置

No3コートのネット センターベルトを止めている金属フック固定部が破損しセンターベルト固定されていない状態になっていました。コート面の金具とベルト金具部にタイラップを通しネットの高さを合わせ固定しました。これでしばらく大丈夫 Keith に連絡し金具を準備後交換してもらうようにしました。

John , Lorne 対 Bryan , Yutaka のゲーム 長いラリーが続くゲームが展開されお互いサービスゲームをキープしながらゲームカウント 5-5 タイブレークに持ち込まれましたがタイブレークもポイントの取り合いで 4-4 で最後のポイント John がレシーブを選択し Yutaka のサーブをリターン 長いラリーが続き Bryan のショットが John の足元へローボレーしたボールが僅かにネットにかかりゲームセット ベンチに座り｢熱戦だったな―!!｣と余韻に浸っています。

照明交換作業

No1,No3コート西側ランプが切れていた照明の交換作業が行われています。早朝のテニスコートを明るくしてくれ気持ちよくプレーできるようになります。早起きプレーヤー達が日の出前からコートに現れウォーミングアップからゲームを楽しめるために照明が正常に点灯していることが必要なのでこうして不良照明を交換ありがたいことです。

夜のシャワーでコートが濡れていた早朝スポンジローラーでコート整備を行いプレーができる状態になったのを確かめようとウォーミングアップを始めました。久し振りにコートにやって来た Monica もコート整備からウォーミングアップと体を動かしてゲーム開始に備えています。

Rain Out!

This past weekend, the Kapiolani courts were mostly rained out. For the working folks, that's terrible. But, the good thing is that this doesn't happen very often. We shouldn't complain as it has been snowing on the east coast and probably very cold elsewhere.  So, I'll stop whining.

照明が切れています!!

No1,No3コート西側の照明が切れています。日の出前コートに来ると全体がいつもより薄暗く感じ見回すと3ヶ所照明が切れていました。以前は、コート脇のスイッチボックスに25セント投入して照明を点灯していましたが00年から公園利用開始5時に点灯するようになりました。全体が明るくなりプレーに支障ない7時20分に照明が切れるようにタイマーセットされています。

シャワーの後熱戦展開

早朝のシャワーでコートに雨水が広がっていました。ロッカーからスポンジローラーをプレーヤーが一つのコートにスポンジローラーを集中し整備が早くなるようコートに運びコート整備に素早く取り組み一つのコートが終わると次のコートにスポンジローラーを渡して行きます。整備の終わったコートでは、熱戦が展開されて行きます。

Can Tennis Players Dance?

There's been no evidence that tennis players can dance...until now. In the first photo, Sachiko does the hula. In the second, John is also doing the hula. In the third photo, we don't know who that crazy couple is or what they're doing. They probably don't know what they're doing either.  --Curt

ベンチで順番を待っている Barbara と Yuko ゆったりと気持ちよい日差しと風を感じながらリラックスして座っています。気持ちよい天候の中気持ちよくテニスができる環境でコートの熱戦を見ながらベンチでゆったりいい気持ちですね。プレーで走り回り順番待ちでベンチに座りそれぞれ気持ちよい気分になりますね。

Hi everyone. Kerry (pictured) needs your recommendations regarding inexpensive hotel accommodations in Waikiki.  He is a tennis coach and instructor from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He and his son need a hotel from March 6 on for about 2 to 3 weeks. Parking is not needed. Any suggestions for them? Thank you, everyone.  --Curt

Aloha Domingo and Sergio

Meet Domingo and Sergio, an accomplished singing coach/instructor from Argentina. They travel to Hawaii and Kapiolani Park annually to play tennis and enjoy the islands.  Recently, Domingo celebrated his birthday.  And this past week, they returned back to their native Argentina.  --Curt

樹木の剪定

カピオラニ公園バンドスタンド東側に Tree Trimming & Removal Team の大型車両が入って来ました。リフト車両先端にワゴンが付いておりそのワゴンに選定する作業員がチェーンソー持参で乗り込みます。全体が見渡せる位置の作業員トランシーバーで位置関係を支持しワゴンが指示通りに動き枝を切っていっています。木陰と日当りのバランスを計りながら作業が進められていました。

忙しい Horacio

Horacio テニスコートにやって来てコートが夜の雨で濡れているのでスポンジローラーで整備をしようとローラーを手にした途端スマートフォーンの呼び出し音が鳴り響きました。 Horacio 呼び出しに応答し長くなりそうなのでコート外のベンチに座り込み話し込み始めました。携帯機器非常に便利ですがどこまでも追いかけられるような気持ちになりますね。
