コート・オープン

公園がオープンになる毎朝5時コートの鍵を警官が開けてくれます。年に数回警官が寝坊して鍵を開けるのが遅れることがあります。慌てて警官がパトカーで飛んできてコートの鍵を開けてくれます。こんな風な場面あまり見たくないですがこんなこともあるんですね。

芝生に散水

カピオラニ公園テニスコート北側芝生広場に散水が始まりました。芝生広場全域を曜日時間帯に分けスプリンクラーで散水しています。芝生をグリーンに保つため散水,肥料散布,スパイク,芝刈りを定期的に行うことできれいな芝生を保ち芝生でスポーツする人達が気持よく楽しめるよう維持管理しています。

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

公園利用時間の告知

ハワイの公園は、深夜12時から早朝5時までクローズになっており立ち入り禁止です。公園がクローズを告知するボードがカピオラニ公園も色々な所に建てられ目に付くようになっています。公園内にホームレスの人達が沢山テントを張って占拠するようになり深夜時間帯公園クローズが始まりました。後公園では、アルコール飲酒とタバコを吸うことが禁止されています。

Chizuko Will Return

At the turn of the month, Chizuko and her husband, Peter, will return to Honolulu for a one week vacation. She will join us at the tennis courts. They moved from Honolulu to Seattle a few years ago.

早朝プレーヤー

日曜日を除く毎日6時頃夫婦でコートに現れるプレーヤーです。男性側にボール籠を置きバックライン近くからボールを打ちそのボールでラリーを行っています。ボールは、中央部分長いボールのラリーが続きます。ボールがネット,オーバー,走らないと取れないと次のボールに変わります。籠のボール60個位を打ち終わるとボールを集めラリーを繰り返し7時過ぎると引き上げて行きます。

North Shore

Meg and I recently made like a tourist and visited the North Shore. We had a great time. Meg took this photo of this very old homeless guy at Haleiwa. She thinks he is funny looking. I think he is so handsome.

週末アート

毎週末動物園のフェンス沿いで絵画の展示即売が行われています。週末テニスが終わりワイキキ方面へ向かう時バス・ストップ方向へ大回りして帰ります。バス・ストップ向い側辺りからフェンス沿いをワイキキに進むとズラリと絵が並んでいます。それぞれの画家が得意とする絵をフェンスに飾り見せています。週末こうして絵を見ながら帰るのが楽しみです。

きれいですね!!

まだ日の出まで時間がある6時30分頃テニスコートからダイヤモンド・ヘッド方向を眺めた景色です。太陽が水平線から出て来るのに後30分少しかかるので空全体もまだ明るさのないブルーです。そこにポッンと月が輝きダイヤモンド・ヘッドとヤシの木がシルエットになりコートのライトが明るく輝きコートを照らしています。もう少しするとここでプレーヤー達が動き回ります。

次で決めよう!!

Steve のフォア・ハンドから打たれたボールが相手コート深く入りリターン・ボールがネットになりポイントを取りました。40-30になり次がゲームポイントになるので Steve サーブ・ポジションに移動しながら Ben に次のポイントを取ろうと声をかけています。ゲームの進行をお互い確認しながらプレーすることがポイントに繋がりますね。

Arvid came back again this year from Vancouver WA, he will stay here 2 weeks.

We are happy in paradise: Sachiko, Fuku, Shimazu and Koba.

盛況です!!

テニスをしたいなぁ～という気持ちよい天候なので沢山のプレーヤーがコートに集まって来ました。4面のコートどこもベンチに沢山のプレーヤーが待っています。ベンチでコート上のプレーに声をかけたり拍手をしたりプレーヤー同士のお喋りで楽しんで出番を待っています。気持ちよいテニスコートです。

トレーニング

テニスコート北側に広がる芝生広場でハイスクールのメンバー男女がランニングのトレーニングが行われています。50m位ダッシュをして折り返してくると腕立て伏せを50回行いその後両手を芝生に付き4本足で20m位進む運動を行って立ち上がり50mダッシュ繰り返し行っています。
