日の出前

朝5時日の出前ですが公園オープンと同時にテニスコートの照明が点灯します。12月の冬至前後日の出が7時10分なので照明の消灯が7時15分で設定されています。5時からライトが点灯しているので早朝プレーヤー1年中同じ時間に来てプレーが出来ています。テニスコート扉の鍵も5時に警官が開けてくれます。

Today Machiko & Tai will travel to Japan everywhere, have a wonderful trip but be careful Kumamoto!

Today Rudy & Horacio are going back to their New York home : they will retire next year then want to be Waikiki resident.

On Sunday, Jami and Carolyn bid a fond farewell to Wayne as he returned back home to Siberia. Just kidding! It's Canada.  ;)

パフの花

背が高く枝が横に広がり広い木陰を作ってくれるネムノキがピンクの花を沢山咲かせています。少し高い位置にピンクの花が咲くので空中にピンクの帯が出来ているように見えます。緑の葉っぱが夕方閉じて朝日が出てくると開いて行くのでねむの木と言われまた花が化粧用のパフに似ていることからパフの木とも呼ばれています。

サーファー像

ワイキキから真っすぐビーチを東側に進んでくるとカピオラニ公園入り口近くで三差路に分かれた場所にやってきます。その場所にこのサーファー像が設置されています。観光で来た人達このサーファー像とワイキキビーチをバックに朝から夕方まで写真を撮っています。クヒオビーチでは、サーフィンよりボディー・ボードをしている人達が沢山楽しんでいます。

Machiko & Tai will visit Japan Wednesday and travel

everywhere and will back to their Waikiki Banyan condo 

then will stay here 3 weeks.

Michi returned to the Aloha state and will be staying here for only 8 days. He said Kei's health is OK.

Steve visited New Zealand and stayed there for 10 days. Then, he came to the Kapiolani tennis courts this morning. He will leave for his Denver Colorado home this Saturday.

バンドスタンド

カピオラニ公園バスストップから公園内に進んだ場所にバンドスタンドがあります。イベントがある時バンドスタンドのステージで色々なパフォーマンスが行われます。ロックの生演奏が行われそれを楽しむ人達がベンチに座り音楽を楽しんでいます。日差しを浴び心地よい風の中音楽を聴きながらのんびり素敵な場所です。

Wayne will leave for his Winnipeg Canada home tonight by Delta air (Honolulu->LA->Minneapolis->Winnipeg) Good bye see you again soon!

Wayne is a strong tennis player and golfer.

女子サッカー

カピオラニ公園テニスコート北側芝生広場にサッカーフィールドが4面あります。週末このサッカーフィールドを利用して盛んにサッカーが行われています。この日ハイスクールの女子サッカーチームがゲームを行っていました。ここで女性のサッカーを頻繁に見るのでアメリカが強い源が判りました。

He's Recovering

Sorry to report that Dr. Gerry suffered a bout of pneumococcal meningitis. He survived but, lost his hearing. After about a month in the hospital, he got out last week. He hopes to recover well enough to play tennis again one day. Keep fighting, Gerry! We're wishing you well and hope to see you again at the courts.

We wish a full recovery of health for Dr. Gerry.

Anyone remember Kathy and Wanda? They came to the courts this morning from Aiea. They are both good tennis players and skiers. Many years ago, Kathy regularly played tennis at KPTC.

KAPIOLANI PARK 案内板

ワイキキからビーチ沿いを真っすぐ歩きスクリーンが建っているクヒオビーチを過ぎた所で分かれ道になっています。その場所にこの案内板が立っています。右の道を進むと SANS SOUCI BEACH で左の道を進むとAQUARIUM 方向に進みます。テニスコートには、ここから AQUARIUM を目指して進みましょう。

These 3 Japanese players became close friends at KPTC: Miki, Ayako and Noriko.

Sizue & Yasuo are visiting from Tokorozawa Saitama and will be staying here until Apr 30.

Machiko & Tai returned to their Waikiki Banyan condo from Fairfield CA but this morning, only Tai came to the court. Machiko couldn't come because of her arm injury.

Break Time!

Just after completing a tight set, Masa, Doi, Sekai, and Jami get tormented by the photographer to have their photo taken. ;)  Welcome back to Masa and Sekai who are very frequent visitors to the islands. And against doctor's orders (torn calf), Jami sneaks in a set about 3 or so weeks early!

駐車禁止広報

カピオラニ公園週末に色々な催しが開催されています。催し開催3日前頃から公園周辺駐車エリアに広報の立て札がズラリと並べられ駐車禁止の時間帯と何が行われるのかが広報されています。駐車禁止日時間帯を確認しテニス・プレーヤーの皆さん事前にどこへ車を停めるか考えています。

Today is last day for Ed & Diana play tennis at KPTC therefore Carolyn, Miki, John, Pauline, Ayako, Charlie and Doi took this Farewell picture for them.

ワイキキに月光

カピオラニ公園に方向に足を進めると海の方向から明るい光が見えてきました。ワイキキ・ビーチを見つめると満月の光が海を照らし一本の光の筋が海面に出来ています。早起きしたことでこんな素敵な景色を見ることができ得した気分になりました。
