Who is this Good-Looking Couple?

Meet Michael, Chau, and their pet, Sunny. Both are very nice people and tennis players. Periodically, they travel from their Kaimuki home to play tennis with us. Michael also likes to surf. He is retired from the heavy equipment and surveying business. Chau is Michael's boss. And, Sunny is the boss of both of them.

テントショップ

カピオラニ公園でイベントが催されると沢山のテントショップが開店します。前日の夕方テントショップ配置目印が芝生の上にフラッグで印されています。当日5時頃から各ショップのトラックが目印近くにやって来てテントを組み立て商品を陳列します。夕方になると手際よく撤収が行われています。

2ゲーム目開始 相手のサーブを待つ Nori どちらに来てもいいように少しバック側にラケットを引いています。 Doi も中間位置で中央を少し狭めて待っています。リラックスした体勢で待つことでサーブ側にプレッシャーがかかります。

The Honolulu Marathon!

The Marathon takes place this Sunday. These ladies from Japan were taking a jog through Ala Moana Beach Park to warm up for the Marathon. Of course, Kapiolani Park will be so busy and congested on Sunday.  Should we even try to get to the courts?   Hmmm.

兵隊さんの訓練

カピオラニ公園を使った兵隊さん達の訓練が行われています。体力勝負の仕事なのでスタミナを付けるトレーニングが繰り返し行われています。朝6時過ぎからダイヤモンド・ヘッドを回るランニング,公園芝生グランドで仲間を背負っての移動,30Kgの土嚢を背負って公園周回,腹筋100回,腕立て100回とヘトヘトになるまで訓練が行われています。

The Early Birds

It's not even 7:00 am and the early morning crew is ready to play some tennis. Hi Susan, Shirley, and Ron!

Mason & Joe

中間位置で構えていた Mason の足元近くへ相手のリターンボールが返って来ました。 Mason 足元のボールハーフバウンドでリターンしたのですが僅かにネットを越えず手前に落ちてしまいました。 Joe リターン・ボールが相手に帰りそのボールが帰ってくればボレーしようと待っていました。

芝生への散水

公園全体の緑を守るためタイマー管理しているスプリンクラーから勢いよく散水されています。この散水ノズル回転しながら散水するので油断していると散水の水を浴びることになります。こうやって散水され常に芝生と木々の緑が維持されています。いい気持ちです!!

ゲームを終わって

Ozzie と Susan ゲームが終わって今日は、引き上げようと少しの時間談笑しています。ゲームをしてベンチで待機し引き揚げる時それぞれの場面でプレーヤー同士情報交換したり体の状態など確認したり気持ちよい雰囲気が流れてきます。

Aloha Michi and Kei!

Michi returned back to Japan after a 4-day visit to Honolulu. Here, he brought a small photo album of his wife, Kei or Keiko, who is in a care home and could not travel. Many of us remember her well as she was so friendly and charming. We miss her laughter and outgoing personality. Take care Michi and Kei!

Toshi グループ

火曜日から金曜日まで毎朝6時前にコートに現れる Toshi グループ です。ほとんど同じ時間に4人揃いゲームを開始しています。メンバーを変えながらゲームを楽しみ8時前になると皆さん引き上げて行きます。 Toshi グループ と顔なじみになるには、早起きをすることです。

Recently, Chizuko earned her U.S. green card. That means she was granted permanent resident status.  Very nice, Chizuko!

ベンチから

明るい太陽を浴びコートの熱戦を見つめ拍手や｢ナイスショット｣等ベンチからプレーを盛り上げます。こうやって次の出番を待ちながらコートのゲームに視線を這わす少し遠くに眼をやると素敵な景色が飛び込んできていい気持ちになります。

クヒオビーチ

ワイキキから東に進み広い左手に動物園が見える砂浜クヒオビーチです。この朝は、殆ど人がいませんがこのビーチ色々な運動をする人達で賑わいます。ビーチバレー,ライフセーバー,フットボール等々のプレーヤーがトレーニングに来ています。
