We have had some recent visitors: Bruce D. from NZ, Terry from Palm Springs and also Bob from Palm Springs.
Dennis and Astrid are back for a few months after suffering a tragedy in the family. I know you all join me in expressing our deepest and heartfelt sympathies on the sudden passing of their new grand daughter on Mother's Day. That was a shock to all of us who know them especially since they were just about to go and visit her.
Dr. Hugh spent time in Greece with his son and daughter in law who are sailing around the world. He wrote to say that he had a very enjoyable time.
Rolf of Calgary is off to hike across England. For those of you who live in Calgary, Rolf's store (Racquet Central) has moved a few blocks away so he is operating out of a new location. Peggy and Jeff and Ernie of Calgary keep in touch. Jeff has a new job so trying to fit in a vacation has been tricky at best.
Bob K. sends his Aloha from Las Vegas where he is now living and working. He went to Costa Rica. Erman S. is back living in Hawaii and has a house for sale in Vegas is any of you are interested.
John S. of Victoria spent May and June here . John played tennis some days and golfed with Ray, Mako and Erman on other days. He was having some knee problems so we'll see if he needs an op. I think he had some cortisone shots but I haven't heard how he is doing. We do want to send our sympathies to John and his wife Ann. Ann's dad recently passed away in Victoria.
Alan of Oz was here in July. Alan has two groups he plays with, one at DHTC and one at Kapiolani Courts and he bounces back and forth(it's easy to imagine him bouncing!) playing with Big George Y., Eddie K., Ace Y., Bob F. , John W., Cruz, Koji, and so on. Alan's friend Peter had his whole family here so that kept Alan busy.
Delta Nancy F. was here for the month of June, her annual pilgrimage to Hawaii to play tennis.
Joe C. and Mike K (Bigfoot) both had knee surgeries. We didn't see Mike for a long time and Joe is still doing his rehab. Mike is back playing again. Ken B. hurt his shoulder but is back playing albeit serving underhanded...we always knew he was a bit underhanded but now we know for sure.
John F. of Santa Barbara phoned. His house was not affected by the fires there but it came very close to his daughter's place but, luckily, she is okay even if other homes in that area were burnt. John sends his Alohas to everyone he knows here. Papa Joe's daughter Frances and PJ's grandson Adam (Frances' son) stopped by to say hello to John when they were in SB on their way to SF.
(To be continued)
