カピオラニ・テニスコート

ワイキキからダイヤモンド・ヘッドを目指して真っすぐ歩いてくるとカピオラニ公園に行き着きます。公園に入りウォーキングロードをドンドン歩いてくるとフィットネス・エリアが見えて来てそこを過ぎると四面のテニスコートに行き当ります。海側と山側に2面づつのこのテニスコートがあり早朝から熱戦が展開されています。

Mom Motomi(元美) & daughter Nagisa(和沙) are visiting from Osaka for 6 days vacation.

Chuck & Lauren back to again from Seattle.

They are same members with Ozzie of Edmonds tennis club.

Singing and Playing in the Rain

At Kapiolani, we're very fortunate that we're rarely rained out.  But, here's a day when we were.  When that happens, Curt and Ozzie put on their speedos, chase each other around the courts, and badly scaring all the ladies.

Susan 元気にコートに現れました。ウエアーをよく見るとおいしそうな Sushi が沢山デザインされた Sushi Pants です。色々眺めて Toro 握りを1個頂戴と言うと Susan 大笑いです。面白いデザインのウエアーが有って面白いです。

Pali tennis couple (Pat:husband & Ali:wife) returned to their Waikiki home(next Diamond Head) from Lake Tahoe CA.

イベント準備

バンドスタンド北東側アメリカ杉並木前芝生広場にテントが沢山設置されています。週末のイベントに向けて準備が始まっています。カピオラニ公園を使ったイベント沢山行われておりその中でもバンドスタンドと一体になった催しがよく行われます。ステージを利用しその前のベンチスペースに沢山の観客が集まり賑やかな週末イベントが盛大に開催される準備が着々と進んでいます。

Water Dance

カピオラニ公園芝生広場北西エリアで Water Dance が始まりました。広い公園全体にタイマーで管理されたスプリンクラーが配置されエリアごとに散水コントロールされています。週2回朝7時前頃から散水が始まりスプリンクラーの首が振られるので Water Dance のように見えます。オアフ島全体植栽部分同じような散水システムが配置され緑が維持されています。

トンボがいます!!

バンドスタンド前の池中央にトンボが卵を産む姿勢で存在感を示しています。公園内で本物のトンボが飛んでいる姿を見ることがないですが池の中央にトンボを配置しようと言うデザインどんな背景から考えられたのか知りたい所です。

ビーチバレーボール大会

カピオラニ公園入り口 Kuhio Beach Park でビーチバレーボール大会が催されています。ビーチバレーボール大会2ヶ月に1回位開催され早朝7時頃から夕方の18時頃まで行われています。ビーチに4面コートが設営されトーナメントで暑い戦いが展開されています。16時頃からのベスト4以上のゲーム激しくよくこんなに動けるものだと感心します。

The French Open Begins

The French Open starts on Sunday.  The favorites to win are Rafa and Serena.  On the men's side, Novak does have a good chance.  On the women's side, Ozzie only has a small chance of getting past the first round.  What do you think?

木陰と落ち葉

カピオラニ公園バス停からテニスコート方面に歩き出した所に大きなバニアン・ツリーがいい枝ぶりで素敵な木陰を作っています。枝が広く広がれば当然のように落ち葉が落ちてきます。その落ち葉が木陰の下に円を描くように落ちて積もっています。その落ち葉を踏みしめるとシャカシャカと素敵な音がして楽しくしてくれます。

The Doctor Assists the Wounded

In the midst of a close match, Ken (in the red shoes), who is a strong player, injured his calf muscle while trying to return a shot from Curt and Meg. Dr. Gerry (second from the right) discusses the injury with Ken who subsequently was driven to the emergency room by Ryan.  Ken had just arrived from Chicago the night before and I believe this was his first match of his vacation.  :(

イベントの準備

テニスコートから東側芝生広場に荷物を積んだトラックが入ってきました。大きなイベントがあるので展示場の建設に必要な資材を積んでいるようです。カピオラニ公園色々な場所を使ったイベントが毎月のように開催されています。イベントを行うことで週末人が集まり賑やな時間が経過して行きます。ハワイは、人を集めるのが本当に上手です。

カピオラニ公園テニスコート

ここがカピオラニ公園テニスコートです。ワイキキからダイヤモンド・ヘッド方向に真っすぐ歩き動物園を越えてカピオラニ公園に入りウォーキングロードを歩いて行くとフィットネス・エリアがあります。そこを過ぎるとこのきれいなテニスコートがあります。いい場所に4面のテニスコートがありフレンドリーなプレーヤー達と楽しいプレーが出来ます。

公園整備

カピオラニ公園芝生広場に公園整備をするトラックが入ってきました。公園は、定期的に植木の選定,芝生の補修等々が行われ気持ちのよい空間が維持されています。ハワイの色々な場所の公園維持沢山の人達が関わり雇用にも貢献しています。

Escape from Tornado Alley

Jami and her parents, Carolyn and Big John, were not home in Oklahoma when the killer tornadoes struck.  Ozzie got word from Jami that they are currently in New Mexico.

帰り路

テニスが終わりコートからワイキキ方面に向かうウォーキングロードに出てきました。前の方に視線をやると芝生広場が広がりその中に木陰がいい塩梅で出来るよう横に広がる枝ぶりの木々が配置されています。その向こうにバンドスタンドが見え催しをしていると賑やかに人の出入りがありますが今日は、何も行われていないようです。
