The weather at Waikiki in Hawaii, is the best in the world. It is warm and dry throughout the year (70~90F). No hurricanes, no heavy rains, no earthquakes. Money can not buy weather. So here is the best place to play tennis and to realize the successful aging.
For the Kapiolani Players who knew "Papa Joe" Gladstone, I would like to inform you that he passed away in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada a few days ago. His funeral was today, July 6, 2010. I know many of the old timers would know him because he played there. That is where I first met him through Bob and Hiromi Ennis. Papa Joe was 93years old; he just had his birthday on July 1st. He used to play and pal around with Charlie Fong for many years at Kapiolani and at Diamond Head. In the past three years he did not play much but he still came to Hawaii for about 6 months every winter season. He was quite frail and was loosing his eyesight but was always happy and still kept his sense of humor and wit. His daughter Frances brought him to Hawaii and took care of him. We will miss him.
