Akemi Kobayashi, Hula Dance in Osaka.

Compare the two pictures of Tom & Barbara .

The black and white photo is taken Oct 5 1946 in Reno Nevada.
The color photo was taken the same day, Oct 5 2009 at the same place, Reno Nevada for their 63 wedding anniversary.
What a difference 63 years makes. and 63 years later? 63 years ago Tom was a handsome young Navy man also Barbara was a beautiful young lady. Now, 63 years later, they are showing us " how sweet a devoted couple they are"

This is an exhibition and sale next to Zoo every weekend. Many loco artists, Japanese artists and other artists from the world showing thier work and selling. It's nice to see and walk in weekend. There's shade all the time so good to go for walk I like that.

Another Day in Paradise!!!

Played and watched some great matches yesterday afternoon at Ala Moana Tennis Courts. The only problem is that there have been a lot of small termites flying around that seem to be attracted to the lights. But the tennis and attitudes are great and it's always fun to play tennis while watching the beautiful sunset; one eye on the ball and the other on the sunset! It doesn't get much better than that..."Aging in Hawaii" is the way to go!!!

Thank you, Keith.

The strings of wind screens are destroyed by strong sunshine and wind. We installed them 8 months ago. What a strong sunshine and wind!! Keith is repairing them every time, when he finds out.

Not long pants, Ben.

He always wears long pants, even when he plays tennis. But today, he is different. What a white legs. Too white.

It's great view with blue sky and palm trees from #2 court we can play just next to this view that's grateful. If it's raining in Waikiki but KP court doesn't have rain sometimes so this is for tennis players here, yeah:) I gape at this view and forgot to hit ball. It isn't excuse about a missed shot hahaha:)

From Charles

Tennis authorities are looking into a match involving Caroline Wozniacki, the United States Open runner-up, because of a surge in betting. Wozniacki retired from the match at the Luxembourg Open with a hamstring injury Wednesday while leading Anne Kremer, 7-5, 5-0. Wozniacki’s father, Piotr, told her at 3-0 in the second set to retire before winning because her injury would keep her from playing in the next round. His comments were heard by Internet viewers, and there was a surge in online bets for Kremer to win.

Thank you, Chizuko.

October 27, 2009 Where's my hero, Hiro(Ben)????

We asked Tom how the other guy is. He wouldn't say, but that he had an altercation with something or somebody!!!!
Help, Hiro(Ben) I need to learn how to rotate the pictures. Until then, everybody twist your neck off its ringes. Tom really was standing up straight.

The line on climate change (2) Sustainable Society SS

It is not a scribble on the side walk. Students statewide were literally drawing the line on climate change. Using blue chalk, thousands of students from over 30 schools statewide were drawing a line that indicates the risk of flooding with a 1-meter of sea level rise.

They are asking global leaders to reduce carbon dioxide emission to below 350 ppm (parts per million) in the atmosphere when they negotiate a new climate treaty this year. See visit blow for more details.

The line on climate change, Sustainable Society SS

The map shows the areas at risk from flooding with a one meter sea level rise. The Blue Line Project highlights HI vulnerability to climate change.
Across the state, students sought to raise awareness of the effects of rising sea levels. If scientists' predictions are accurate, Hawaii's coastline is in danger of catastrophic flooding if greenhouse gas emissions continue at the current rate.On Saturday, a hoard of students took to the streets of Moiliili with blue chalk to map where the water level could reach on Oahu's shore if the sea level were to rise one meter."You think of Waikiki and the economic engine that it is -- of our coastlines, our refineries, sewage treatment plants, our reef runway -- this is all at risk if the ocean continues to rise," said Jeff Mikulina, of the Sierra Club.According to Mikulina, the enemy is greenhouse gas, which he described as a thickening blanket around the Earth."As the earth gets warmer, the Antarctic melts, Greenland melts, and this contributes to the sea level," Mikulina said. The Blue Line Project's mission is to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere, and took place across the state at 18 different locations with the help of students and teachers.McKinley High School was one of more than 30 that worked to raise awareness."People have to change their mentality of this problem," said Bradley Suda, a McKinley High School student. "If you don't really believe in it, how can you wholeheartedly make a difference?"Many of the students who participated were members of "going green" clubs at their schools, and said they hope the lesson lasts longer than the chalk.
